The Brewers Cottage Wildlife & Photography Hide 

Our new wildlife watching and photography hide is now available for guest use ....


We are delighted at how the new hide has fitted so well into our mature, established garden, and how readily our visiting wildlife have embraced it as a part of their nightime routine. Designed specifically for close-up viewing, filming and photography - it offers a quiet, peaceful retreat for nature enthusiasts. We sincerely hope it is enjoyed and provides a welcome guest facility for many years to come.

Kindly Note: 
We are not offering a professional photography hide, nor are we able to offer photography advise... We are a holiday let with a wildlife hide in the garden for guest use only. If you are planning to take some photos during your stay and would like to see a more detailed hide spec to that listed here please contact us via our booking platform Simply Owners. As standard we will send out the hide details with your booking form upon a request to book so that you can make an informed choice before commiting to a booking.

  • Size: The hide is a hand built timber construction measuring 6’ x 4’, comfortably accommodating 1-2 persons                               
  • Build: Built on a concrete base, the interior floor is overlaid with timber and rubber matting to minimize any interior noise.   
  • Unglazed Hatch: The hatch opens outwards and is held in place with a gate catch, it offers an eye level view out over the sloping rhododendron banking, featuring natural plant growth, mature trees and  old moss-covered tree stumps, the canopy is established conifers, silver birch and hazel.The boundry fence in the background is obscured with neighbouring established growth.
  • Equipment Support: The hide features a under hatch shelf for photographic equipment, we have added some bean bag supports and a Smallrig magic arm camera mount for your use if required.
  • Seating: Inside, you will find a high back swivel office chair for watching and waiting and a secondary higher folding bar stool with a back, a smaller foldable stool has been left for multi-use.
  • Power: The hide has a double wall mounted socket with 2x USB charging points - bring your own lead(s). 
  • Viewing area lighting: Two types of wired outdoor lighting operate via two internal hide switches (one on the plug socket listed above). Two small portable LED lights have been made available for extra lighting if required.                                                                 
  • Interior Light: The internal lighting is via a rechargeable magnetic camping bivy light with various low level light settings. 
  • Refreshments: A hot drink flask and tin mugs are provided for use in the hide.
  • Security Lighting: Two security lights operating via a PIR sensor on the garden shed provide access lighting on path and lawn.
  • Door Security:  A key will be provided upon arrival at the cottage for the hide door - This key MUST be returned to the cottage after each use. The door can be closed and secured from the inside the hide, we advise you use the door catch once inside to secure the door from curious wildlife. 
Heath & Safety: 
  • The hide is strictly NO SMOKING, NO E-CIGRETTES, & NO VAPING as is the rest of the property.(Please see our Terms & Conditions)
  • Guests are responsible for keeping the hide clean & tidy, free from food, litter etc - Our caretaker does not service the hide.
  • A torch is provided for use in the hide and safe access.
